Ready WiMAX Industry Entering Local

WiMAX presence of euphoria that had echoed some time ago now live a few more steps toward reality. This can be said that after a number of local companies and industry associations signed the Charter of Domestic Preparedness of industry which took place at Hotel Shangrila, Jakarta, Thursday (10/12/09). The procession is held by MASTEL (Indonesia Telematics Society), Intel, Chamber of Commerce, Id-WiBB, and WiMAX Forum Indonesian chapter is once again a signal for producers of domestic telecommunications equipment to support the implementation of WiMAX as a wireless broadband access technology.

Recorded ten parties who signed the charter, including Computer Indonesian Employers Association (Apkomindo) and the Software Association of Indonesia (ASPILUKI), PT Stage Electric Citrabuana, Olex Cables Indonesia, Gema Teknologi Indonesia, Berca Cakra Technology, Xirca Darma Persada, Realta Chakradarma, Jetcoms Netindo, and LEN Persero Industry.

Later Indonesia will use the 802.16e standard WiMAX equipment to follow global standards through a Local Manufacturing Matchmaking Program (LMMP) and operates at 2.3GHz frequency. Version 'e' which was carrying a full mobile broadband is recognized superior version of 'd' which are nomadic but limited in scope.

"We have more than 150 million mobile phone subscribers in Indonesia, but less than half a million users who have broadband access," said Dr. Mo Shakouri as Vice President WiMAX Forum.

"WiMAX is the right platform to bring broadband services in cities and rural centers in order to achieve the target 50 million broadband users in Indonesia in 2015," he added.

interesting topic about WiMax, the truth about 802.16e (running on spectrum 2.6Ghz) are not real WiMax capability, WiMax spectrum can run higher than 3.5 Ghz.
